"Hello Friends! My name is Dixie and I was born on August 11 2001. That makes me a Leo, and like all Leos I have a kind spirit, I am eager for action, playful and want to be loved more than anything else. I came to the Gulf Coast Humane Society with some of my friends because our owner could not look after us anymore. My friends left quite a while ago, but I am still here. I think it might be because I have degenerative joint disease, which is very similar to hip dysplasia, and will have to take medication for the rest of my life. I don`t mind though, I love life and would like to share it with a person who has lots and lots of time for me. I get along well with children and like other dogs, especially if they want to play with me. I love going for walks, playing with chew toys, and getting lots and lots of attention. I am not really keen on going to the vet and having blood tests done, but I have to keep up with those to make sure my medication is still OK for me and that I am healthy enough to take it. I am pleased to say that so far I have been doing BRILLIANTLY!!!!!!!! I would love to have a forever family, BUT if you would like to foster me for ever instead, that is fine too. As long as I have a special person of my own, to share this life with, I am happy. I would probably appreciate having a crate to stay in when you leave me alone. I sometimes get worried when you are gone and might nibble at something I should not.
